Windows 10 RTM, Infragistics Support & Futures – Program Office – infragistics.com Blog

Microsoft Windows 10 is officially launching today worldwide, and I wanted to take a minute to update you on what it means for Infragistics customers and where we are headed with this exciting new release.

Unlike previous release versions of Windows, the new operating system marks a “new era” for personal computing as Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella called it. To start with – it is built to run across all platforms. This means that Windows 10 will be used across all Microsoft devices, including PCs, tablets and smartphones, game consoles and wearables like Microsoft’s holographic headset, HoloLens with developers only needing to write their applications once for all devices. The future opportunity for developers around Windows 10 is huge, lots of device support, lots of Infragistics support with controls, libraries, frameworks and productivity tools along the way.

Speaking about Windows 10, Satya Nadella said: “We want Windows to go from where users need it, to choose it… to loving it” reflecting on the new direction Microsoft has taken.  I am actually here in Redmond today on campus and the energy and excitement over Windows 10 RTM is amazing.  A very exciting day for Microsoft, but more so for developers who need a solid OS with a high adoption rate to deliver desktop, web and mobile apps for both consumers and the enterprise.

At Infragistics, we’ve always been committed to build software for you with the latest technologies available, and in the light of this major OS release from Microsoft, we are pleased to announce:

  • Infragistics products that are currently supported in our product lifecycle are fully supported on Windows 10.
  • Infragistics officially supports Visual Studio 2015, and CLR 4.6 for all products that are currently supported in their product lifecycle.

As the developer story evolves for building Windows 10 apps with the new Universal Windows Platform (UWP) evolves, expect to see announcements and product builds of our cross-platform UI controls for Windows 10 targeted apps later this year.  We are also announcing the retirement of our Windows 8 and Windows Phone controls today.  These products will have 3-year support from the launch of Infragistics 15.2 later this year, so for the customers that have apps migrating to UWP, you’ll have plenty of support from us along the way.
