Sony PlayStation Network, Down on Christmas

Day 2 –

PlayStation Network Down Again –

The network came up again for a short while, only to fail once again. 110 million users unable to access their online content or play.

—RANT—

When issue like this happen its for one reason and not the HACKERS
I am all for the “A” plan but where is the plan “B”  Doesn’t seem to be one

I guess (only guessing from what I have experienced)
— its due to the lack in proper infrastructure —
I don’t blame the IT staff or engineers; and feed sad for that middle tier management who attempt to keep the budget low; so they look good to management above

But what does that get you?

-Failure-
Because they have failed to communicate upward of the risks and what needs to be in place and that that will cost involved to keep a network and infrastructure resilient.

Its that simple, and this is will over 100 millions customers are down. Sad, so sad and shows you how much they care.

–END RANT–

Re:

It seems that PlayStation network and that of Microsoft Xbox Online are both under a DDOS type event preventing access to content and log on resources. Users all over the world are affected by this outage.

For Sony this is nothing new

But will Sony Online / PlayStation Network (PSN) make good to customers who have lost game time and use of system during this outage.

Seems like the Sony PlayStation Network is down

Attempts to log into the the network results into a redirect to the following page: http://us.playstation.com/maintenance/

This issue was first noticed on the console where an error message reads:

An error has occurred. You have been signed out of PSN. (80710092)

The suggested actions to take are all a waste of time. Simply put, the network for Sony online is down.

Playstation Network Maintenance

If you have tried to log into the PSN tonight, you will have quickly noticed that you are receiving error messages. According to Sony, the PSN  is under maintenance

According to Sony, you can expect the PSN to be down until around 2 AM Pacific time Monday morning. How will we ever survive =(

Read on for more information on maintenance from Sony.

As you may recall, we had postponed our scheduled PlayStation Network maintenance session from last Thursday to a time to be announced. It is now determined that maintenance will take place tomorrow (Sunday, March 4).

This significant PSN maintenance period is expected to start at just after noon Pacific and will last for several hours, until approximately 2am Pacific on Monday, March 5. Unlike typical maintenance events, consumers who are already signed-in to PSN will be signed-out, and consumers will be unable to sign in for the duration of the maintenance window. During this time, users won’t be able to access the PlayStation Store, PlayStation Home, Account Management or play online. PSN enabled websites will not be able to service users, including this one.

Please stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for a notice when PSN is fully back online. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

PlayStation Network Down

Here we go again.  If you were looking to play on the PSN, today will not be that day.  The Playstation blog has announced that they are running routine maintenance all day today so the service will be unavailable from 8am until 10pm PST.

PlayStation Network will be offline for routine scheduled maintenance on Thursday, November 17th from approximately 8am until 10pm PST.

During the maintenance, you will be unable to access the following services:

In addition, you will not be able to sign in to PlayStation Network from us.playstation.com. However, some users may be able to play online during the maintenance.

During this maintenance, you can continue to collect in-game Trophies and these will be updated on your profile once PlayStation Network is back up and running.

Stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for updates and a notice when maintenance has concluded.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Sony have not given any explanation as to why there will be “routine” maintenance on such short notice. Feel free to speculate as much as possible in the comments section below.
