Today I found myself updating CrashPlan on my headless server and client computers. In doing so I needed to Uninstall CrashPlan to install the latest release. I found after this I needed to adopt the backup however I someone lost the option to do so.
The following steps need to be done via the connected client to get the option back:
- Open the CrashPlan desktop application
- Double-click the CrashPlan logo in the upper-right corner
- Type: guid new
- Press enter and close the window
You will be logged out of CrashPlan. When prompted, log back in. At this point the adoption message should appears at the top of the Backup tab.
Note: Once done your folder / files will be verified, depending on how much data you have this may take some time.
